At Forbes Field the Honolulu Islanders outscored the Cheyenne Gunslingers 5 to
2.
 
In the 5th inning Honolulu scored 3 runs when they came up with 3 base hits.
Al Simmons led off and he ripped a single.  After an out was recorded, Hank
Aaron came to bat and ripped a base-knock.  Rafael Palmeiro then drew a walk
to load the bases.  Lance Parrish was up next and he reached on an error.
Joe Gordon followed, but he was set down on strikes.  Travis Jackson
continued the rally and laced a one-base hit, and an error was also
committed.  George Kell followed next and he was walked intentionally to load
the bases.  Both teams finished the game with 11 hits.  
 
Hilton Smith(10-6) went 6 and 1/3 innings allowing 2 runs for the win. Leon
Day preserved the game for Smith, recording his his 14th.  Mickey Lolich(3-4)
suffered the loss.  He was knocked around by Honolulu, allowing 9 hits and 3
walks in 4 and 2/3 innings.

    1. Not as much as it looks like. When Lolich had problems in the 5th, it was your defense that let you down. Bottomley and Mantle making almost back to back errors didn't help your cause.

  2. Yeah but the hits were allowed that but runners in place to score prior to the errors. My pitching is really rather sad!
