In a good matchup it was the Des Moines Pickers 6, the Saskatoon Commodores 4
at The Astrodome.
 
Dennis Eckersley(3-3) pitched a solid game.  He went 8 and 1/3 innings and
surrended up 7 hits and 2 walks.  Saskatoon had a chance to come back in the
9th but they came up short.  
 
Eckersley was helped out by Sparky Lyle who recorded his 12th save.  The
losing pitcher was Jerry Koosman(5-7).  He allowed a few too many baserunners
giving up 11 hits and 4 walks in 8 innings.  
 
'It was a tough one to lose' said Walt Alston 'We'll get them next time out.'
