Barry Bonds blasted 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI at Metrodome where the Anchorage
Gold beat the Cheyenne Gunslingers by the score of 10 to 9.
Bonds was a one-man wrecking crew. He lofted a solo-blast 'downtown' in the
1st inning, lost the ball over the fence for three runs in the 3rd inning and
singled which brought home a run in the 6th inning. Anchorage had 8 hits for
the night.
The win went to Dennis Martinez(5-5) who allowed 7 runs in 7 innings. Luis
Tiant recorded his 18th save. Jack Morris(4-12) was charged with the loss.
He served up 5 gopher balls in 8 innings.
'It's just about getting in a good hitting position and just going out there
and being prepared,' Bonds said. 'You try to hit in your own capacity and not
do too much. I just try to have a good approach, day after day, game by game,
and pitch by pitch.'
