Ed Walsh pitched a complete game as the Anchorage Gold beat the reeling
Cheyenne Gunslingers by a score of 4 to 3.
 
The game was decided in the bottom of the 8th inning.  Barry Bonds drew a
walk.  A balk was called.  After another out, Frank Thomas got his chance to
keep things going, but he went down on strikes.  Dick Allen was up next and
he doubled.  Cheyenne tried unsuccessfully to come back in the 9th.
 
Walsh(13-6) allowed 3 runs on the game. The losing pitcher was Whitey
Ford(9-9).  He pitched 7 innings allowing 7 hits and 2 walks.
