Frankie Frisch blasted 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI and Satchel Paige
allowed Bucky Harris to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game at
The Astrodome where the New Orleans Pelicans beat the Saskatoon
Commodores by the score of 11 to 4.
Frisch had a big day with his bat. He doubled in the 1st inning,
bombed a two-run dinger in the 5th inning and smashed a two-run homer
in the 8th inning. New Orleans managed 15 hits in their victory.
Paige(8-4) got the victory, allowing 4 runs for the game. Jim Bunning
(4-6) was charged with the loss. He was hit hard and gave up 9 hits
and 4 walks in 4 innings.
'Everything seemed to click tonight,' Frisch said 'if it could only be
this easy all the time!'

Barry Bonds knocked 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI as the Anchorage Gold
defeated the Buffalo Nickels 8 to 5 at Metrodome.
Bonds helped send the fans home happy. He delivered a solo blast in
the 1st inning, popped a two-run clout over the fence in the 3rd inning
and ripped a base-knock in the 7th inning. Buffalo threatened in the
9th but Anchorage was able to put down the rally.
The victory went to Jim Palmer(8-4) who went 8 and 1/3 innings,
allowing 5 runs. Palmer was helped out by Luis Tiant who recorded his
9th save. Eppa Rixey(5-3) was given the loss. He was touched for 3
homeruns in his 6 and 1/3 innings of work.
'You have to give Buffalo credit, they fought us tough to the end' Leo
Durocher said. 'It could have gone either way, but I'm glad we pulled
out the victory.'

Right fielder Larry Walker had 4 hits and 5 RBI at Ebbets Field as the
Orlando Wave embarrassed the Las Vegas Miners by the lopsided score of
15 to 5.
Walker provided much of the offense. He doubled in the 1st inning,
doubled bringing in a run in the 4th inning, doubled knocking in a run
in the 6th inning and singled bringing home two baserunners in the 7th
inning. Orlando kept the scorekeepers busy in the 7th inning with 7
runs on 5 hits. Las Vegas was out-hit by Orlando, 18 hits to 11.
The win was credited to Vic Willis(5-5) who went 6 and 1/3 innings
allowing 5 runs. Burleigh Grimes earned his 4th save. Bullet Joe Rogan
(3-8) ended up with the loss. Orlando knocked him around a bit, as he
gave up 6 runs in 2 innings.
CHEYENNE AT MEMPHIS

Whitey Ford retired 10 batters on strikeouts at Polo Grounds as the
Cheyenne Gunslingers beat the Memphis Belles 5 to 2.
Ford(5-5) pitched a fine game. He was reached for 5 hits and 3 walks in
6 and 2/3 innings and surrendered 2 'long-bombs'. Cheyenne had only 6
hits for the night.
Dan Quisenberry recorded the save, his 6th. The loss was charged to
Stan Coveleski(3-7). 'I had my good stuff tonight.' Ford said. 'As the
game went along I started to get the feeling that I was going to strike
out a bunch of hitters.'

Paul Molitor had 4 hits and 5 RBI as the Des Moines Pickers defeated
the Honolulu Islanders by a score of 18 to 9 at Wrigley Field.
Molitor made sure the Des Moines fans enjoyed themselves. He delivered
a base-hit in the 3rd inning, banged out a single which was good for
two runs in the 4th inning, doubled in the 7th inning and tripled
clearing the bases in the 8th inning. Des Moines bats were hot in the
4th inning which saw them plate 8 runs on 6 hits and the 8th inning
which saw them score 6 runs on 5 hits. For the game Des Moines out-
hit Honolulu 21 to 15.
The winning pitcher was Nolan Ryan(7-4) who allowed 8 runs in 7 and 2/3
innings. Hilton Smith(7-3) was the loser. He was knocked around pretty
good, giving up 9 runs in 4 and 1/3 innings.
