beat the Des Moines Pickers 5 to 4.

Alexandria scored the deciding run in the bottom of the 8th inning. Honus
Wagner drew a walk. Wagner was safe on a stolen base. After an out was
recorded, Alexandria continued their aggressive style with another stolen
base. After another out, Dan Brouthers came to bat and drew a walk. Wade
Boggs came to the plate and drew a walk to load the bases. Roy Campanella
added to the rally and ripped a one-base hit. Campanella took second on the
throw. Des Moines had a chance in the 9th but they came up short.

The win went to Koufax(9-3) who allowed 4 runs in the game. Nolan Ryan(5-4)
took the loss. Despite taking the loss, he whiffed 11 batters in 7 and 2/3
innings.

'I had a little blister on my index finger before the game, but I thought it
was nothing.' Koufax said. 'I was lucky I got a win because I couldn't put
the ball where I wanted it.'
