In a game at Baker Bowl the Des Moines Pickers offense put up 5 runs on the
scoreboard in the 7th inning and got by the Escanaba Yoopers by the score of
12 to 9.
Buck Leonard had a big evening at the plate. He laced a single plating two
runs in the 1st inning, launched a three-run homer in the 3rd inning and
stroked a one-base hit in the 5th inning. Des Moines had a total of 10 hits
for the game.
The win went to Nolan Ryan(5-3) who allowed 8 runs in 7 and 2/3 innings. The
losing pitcher was Ray Brown(4-4). He was knocked around by Des Moines,
allowing 9 hits and 8 walks in 6 innings.
