Lefty Grove shutout Buffalo while allowing the Des Moines bullpen a day-off as
the Des Moines Pickers bested the Buffalo Nickels 7 to 0 at Wrigley
Field.
 
Grove(5-2) contributed a very nicely pitched game.  He allowed only 5 hits and
3 walks in 9 innings dropping his ERA from 5.14 to 4.43.  Des Moines banged
out 10 hits on the afternoon.  
 
David Cone(1-5) was tagged with the loss. He struck out 13 batters in 7
innings despite losing the game.  Wth the win Des Moines now has a record of
20-23.  With this loss, Buffalo has a 5-5 record of late, 20-24, worst in the
division overall.
