Right fielder Babe Ruth slammed a homerun and had 3 RBI as the Buffalo Nickels
defeated the Des Moines Pickers by a score of 8 to 4 at Wrigley
Field.
Buffalo scored 4 runs in the 6th inning with the help of 3 hits. The big
moment was provided by Javy Lopez who quieted the crowd when he doubled
plating two runs. Buffalo finished with 10 hits in the victory.
The winning pitcher was Eppa Rixey(4-2) who allowed 4 runs in 8 and 2/3
innings. Rixey got relief help from Jack Chesbro who gained credit for his
4th save. The losing pitcher was Steve Carlton(3-1). He gave up 8 hits and
7 walks in 7 and 1/3 innings.
