Pop Lloyd had 2 base hits and 3 RBI as the Saskatoon Commodores
defeated the Escanaba Yoopers by a score of 4 to 2 at The Astrodome.
 
Walter Johnson(3-4) delivered a fine performance for Saskatoon.  He
went 8 innings allowing 7 hits and 1 walk dropping his ERA from 4.20 to
3.92.  The pitchers took over after the 4th inning as neither team was
able to score again. 
 
Johnson got relief help from Hoyt Wilhelm who gained credit for his 8th
save.  Ray Brown(4-3) was hit with the loss.  He pitched 8 innings
allowing 10 hits and 2 walks.
 
 
NEW ORLEANS AT ORLANDO

Babe Adams tossed a complete game as the New Orleans Pelicans beat the
Orlando Wave by a score of 5 to 2.
 
Adams(4-3) looked very much in control throughout the night.  He didn't
allow much, just 8 hits and 1 walk in 9 innings seeing his ERA drop
from 3.18 to 2.74.  Both teams totaled 8 hits on the night. 
 
Kevin Brown(1-7) was given the loss.  Although losing the contest, he
whiffed 9 batters in 6 and 2/3 innings.
 
BUFFALO AT DES MOINES

Hack Wilson slammed 3 homeruns and had 7 RBI and Addie Joss had an
impressive outing at Wrigley Field as the Buffalo Nickels, running on
all cylinders, ripped the Des Moines Pickers by a large 20 to 4 margin.
 
Wilson had a great day at the plate.  He ripped a solo home run in the
2nd inning, lost the ball over the fence for three runs in the 3rd
inning and smacked a three-run homer in the 8th inning.  Buffalo
provided plenty of action in the 8th inning which saw them plate 8 runs
on 7 hits.  Buffalo dominated offensively as they scored in 6 different
innings. 
 
Joss(4-3) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 4 runs. Curt
Schilling(1-5) took the loss.  He surrended 4 homeruns in his 2 and 2/3
innings. 
 
'Everything seemed to click today,' Wilson said 'if it could only be
this easy all the time!'
 
CHEYENNE AT LAS VEGAS

Lou Gehrig launched 3 homeruns and had 7 RBI and Pete Alexander held
Cheyenne to 3 hits at Yankee Stadium where the Las Vegas Miners beat
the Cheyenne Gunslingers 9 to 2.
 
Gehrig was a one-man wrecking crew.  He clubbed a two-run home run in
the 1st inning, clubbed a three-run home run in the 3rd inning and
blasted a two-run home run in the 6th inning.  Las Vegas had a total of
11 hits for the game.
 
The victory was credited to Alexander(4-4) who went the distance,
allowing 2 runs. The losing pitcher was Randy Johnson(4-5).  He served
up 3 homeruns in his 5 and 1/3 innings. 
 
'Some days it just all comes together, and this was one of them' Gehrig
said.  'I've been seeing the ball pretty well lately.'
 
ANCHORAGE AT MEMPHIS

Eddie Plank allowed Bill McKechnie to rest his bullpen, tossing a
complete game as the Memphis Belles defeated the Anchorage Gold by the
score of 7 to 1 at Polo Grounds.
 
Plank(3-5) was solid in the win.  He gave up just 5 hits and 2 walks in
9 innings.  Memphis totaled 11 hits on the night. 
 
Dennis Martinez(3-3) suffered the loss.  Memphis scored big getting 5
runs off him in 2 and 2/3 innings.  Wth the win Memphis now has a
record of 17-28.  Anchorage has a record of 28-16 after the loss.
 
HONOLULU AT ALEXANDRIA

Pete Hill knocked 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI as the Honolulu Islanders
destroyed the Alexandria Dukes by a score of 13 to 0 at Tiger Stadium.
 
Hill had a good day at the plate.  He smashed a two-run homer in the
6th inning and lofted a three-run bomb in the 7th inning.  Honolulu
finished with 12 hits while Alexandria ended up with 6. 
 
Hilton Smith(6-1) went 8 and 2/3 innings allowing no runs for the
victory.  Tommy Bridges(1-2) was tagged with the loss.  Honolulu
knocked him around a bit, as he gave up 5 runs in 2 and 2/3 innings. 
 
With this win, Honolulu has a 21-22 record.  They have been 5-5 lately.  With the loss, Alexandria has a record of 6-4 lately, 27-17 overall.
