Jud Wilson had 2 base hits as the Cheyenne Gunslingers defeated the Honolulu
Islanders by the score of 4 to 3 at Shibe Park.
 
Whitey Ford(7-5) pitched well for Cheyenne in their victory.  He was reached
for 8 hits and 3 walks in 8 and 1/3 innings.  Honolulu threatened in the 9th
but Cheyenne was able to put down the rally.  
 
Dan Quisenberry gained credit for his 8th save.  The loss was charged to
Hilton Smith(8-4).  'He gutted it out' Tony La Russa said of Ford.  'I was
very impressed by his tenacity.'
