Center fielder George Foster went deep and had 2 RBI as the Anchorage Gold
defeated the Cheyenne Gunslingers 14 to 12 at Forbes Field.
Anchorage promptly took the lead in their half of the first when they tallied
3 runs on 5 hits. Cheyenne threatened in the 9th but their rally came up
short.
Dwight Gooden(4-7) allowed 8 runs in 8 innings, and picked up the victory.
John Smoltz(1-4) suffered the loss. He got hit pretty hard, allowing 9 hits
and 2 walks in 4 and 2/3 innings.
