Tim Keefe recorded a complete game shutout at Crosley Field as the
Buffalo Nickels beat the Escanaba Yoopers by the count of 4 to 0.

Keefe(11-14) pitched a solid game.  He was stingy on the mound,
allowing just 4 hits and 4 walks in 9 innings.  Buffalo rapped out
7 hits for the night.

Don Drysdale(8-10) was hit with the loss.  He pitched 8 innings
allowing 7 hits and 4 walks.

Louis Santop hit one over the fence and had 2 RBI at Wrigley Field
where the Des Moines Pickers beat the Saskatoon Commodores in 10
innings 5 to 4.

The game was deadlocked at 4 after nine full innings.  Des Moines won
the game in the 10th inning.  Santop blasted a solo shot making Des
Moines the winners and sending the 45,064 fans home happy.  A wild
affair, this game saw the lead change 5 times. 

The victory went to Sparky Lyle(10-6) who went 2 innings, allowing 1
run. Hoyt Wilhelm(4-4) took the loss in relief.  He pitched 2 and 1/3
innings giving up 3 hits and 1 walk.

HONOLULU AT LAS VEGAS

Reggie Jackson blasted 3 homeruns and had 4 RBI at Yankee Stadium as
the Las Vegas Miners beat the Honolulu Islanders 8 to 3.

It seemed that Honolulu pitching was serving up softballs for Jackson
to hit.  He cracked a solo homerun in the 2nd inning, lofted a solo-
blast 'downtown' in the 5th inning and cleared the fences for a two-run
home run in the 7th inning. Las Vegas managed 10 hits in their victory. 

The win went to Bert Blyleven(12-11) who allowed 3 runs in 7 and 1/3
innings. Hilton Smith(14-8) was the losing pitcher.  He was touched for
6 homeruns in his 8 innings of work. 

'Some days it just all comes together, and this was one of them'
Jackson said. 'I've been seeing the ball pretty well lately.'

Satchel Paige mowed down 10 Memphis batters as the New Orleans Pelicans
defeated the Memphis Belles by a score of 12 to 3 at Polo Grounds.

Sammy Sosa had a big day with his bat.  He smashed a bases-empty 'big-
fly' in the 2nd inning, doubled plating a run in the 5th inning and
tripled resulting in a run in the 8th inning.  New Orleans banged out
19 hits on the night.

Paige(15-8) allowed 3 runs on the game. Phil Niekro(2-3) suffered the
loss.  New Orleans knocked him around a bit, as he gave up 6 runs in 5
and 2/3 innings. 

Bill McKechnie was impressed with Paige and his 10 strikeouts. 'It's
tough to generate runs if you can't make contact with the ball.'

ANCHORAGE AT CHEYENNE

Jim Palmer tossed a complete game and Ken Griffey Jr touched them all
at Forbes Field where the Anchorage Gold beat the league door-mat
Cheyenne Gunslingers by the score of 6 to 2.

Anchorage jumped on top of Cheyenne in the top of the 6th inning when
they tallied 2 runs on 1 hit.  Anchorage finished with 7 hits in the
victory.

The win was credited to Palmer(14-6) who went the whole way allowing 2
runs. The loss was charged to Jack Morris(5-16).  He surrendered 6 runs
and 6 hits in 7 and 1/3 innings. 

Anchorage now has a record of a division leading 72-49.  Tony La Russa
was unhappy with his club's recent performance.  'We can't keep losing
games' he said.  'It gets to be embarrassing after a while.'

Center fielder Kirby Puckett collected 3 extra-base hits and had 4 RBI
as the Orlando Wave destroyed the Alexandria Dukes by a score of 13 to
3 at Ebbets Field.

Puckett helped send the fans home happy.  He doubled knocking in a run
in the 5th inning, doubled bringing in two baserunners in the 6th
inning and tripled which plated a run in the 8th inning.  Orlando had
many opportunities throughout the game and scored in 6 separate
innings. 

The win was credited to Kevin Brown(6-17) who went 8 and 2/3 innings
allowing 3 runs. Sandy Koufax(15-11) was charged with the loss.  He
surrended 3 homeruns in his 5 innings.
