Randy Johnson retired 13 batters on strikeouts and Pete Rose had 2 base hits
and 2 RBI as the Cheyenne Gunslingers won a heart-stopping victory over the
Anchorage Gold, 4 to 3.
The game was decided in the 9th inning. After two outs Jake Beckley drew a
walk. Lou Brock followed and he drew a walk. Rose then stroked a single
giving Cheyenne the win and sending the home town fans into a frenzy.
Cheyenne totaled 9 hits on the afternoon.
The win went to Dan Quisenberry(5-1) who allowed no runs in 1 inning. Dwight
Gooden(7-9) absorbed the loss. Wth the win Cheyenne now has a record of
47-75. With the loss, Anchorage has a record of 6-4 lately, 72-50 overall.
