48,981 fans watched an exciting game at Forbes Field. The Cheyenne
Gunslingers finally stopped their 6 slide with the victory and topped the
Honolulu Islanders by the slimmest of margins, 6 to 5.
Honolulu found themselves trailing quickly as the Cheyenne bats came through
in the first inning scoring one runner on 2 base hits. Honolulu had a chance
in the 9th but they came up short.
The win was credited to Jack Morris(5-15) who went 7 and 2/3 innings allowing
4 runs. Dan Quisenberry gained credit for his 11th save. Tommy John(12-7)
was given the loss. Cheyenne scored big getting 5 runs off him in 4 innings.
'Ahhh, how sweet it is,' Tony La Russa sighed. 'That win feels like a tall,
cool drink of water after spending far too much time in the desert lately.'
