In a one-sided affiar at Baker Bowl the final score was the Escanaba Yoopers
8, the Des Moines Pickers 3.
 
Escanaba claimed the early lead in the first inning as they scored 2 runs on 2
base hits.  The highlight belonged to Martin Dihigo who made the Escanaba
fans a happy lot when he smashed a two-run homer.  Escanaba finished with 12
hits while Des Moines ended up with 7.  
 
The victory was credited to Babe Ruth(14-7) who went 8 and 2/3 innings,
allowing 3 runs. Curt Schilling(10-13) took the loss.  He was knocked around,
surrendering 8 runs in 7 and 1/3 innings.  
 
'Ahhh, that victory was surely needed.  Man alive, things were getting awfully
grim,' noted Tommy Lasorda.  'Now, we need to string a bunch of wins together
and turn things around!'
