Right fielder Buck Ewing smacked 3 homeruns and had 4 RBI at Yankee Stadium as
the Las Vegas Miners, running on all cylinders, ripped the awful Cheyenne
Gunslingers by a large 11 to 0 margin.
Ewing was spectacular at the plate. He cracked a solo homerun in the 2nd
inning, smashed a solo-shot out of the park in the 3rd inning and blasted a
two-run home run in the 4th inning. Las Vegas had 14 hits overall, while
Cheyenne had 9.
Bert Blyleven(11-10) went 8 and 1/3 innings allowing no runs for the victory.
Jack Morris(4-15) was hit with the loss. He served up 4 gopher balls in 2
and 2/3 innings.
The Las Vegas ballclub's record now stands at 57-61. With the loss Cheyenne
now has a record of 44-70, worst in the division.
