The Orlando Wave defeated the Alexandria Dukes by a score of 7 to 4 at Tiger
Stadium.
Orlando jumped on top of Alexandria in the 2nd inning when they came up with 2
runs on 1 hit. The big moment was provided by Jimmy Collins who deflated the
crowd as he singled scoring two baserunners. Both teams totaled 14 hits on
the night.
The winning pitcher was Smokey Joe Williams(8-8) who allowed 4 runs in 7 and
1/3 innings. Burleigh Grimes was credited with his 6th save. Sandy
Koufax(14-8) was tagged with the loss. He was touched for 8 hits and 2 walks
in 4 and 1/3 innings.
